Mummies were in for a surprise this year.
The boys' school, Learning Vision @ Raffles Place organised a Mother's Day cocktail for the mummies. There will be the usual food and drinks prepared by the teachers and kids performance put up by the children. What the mummies didn't know was that the teachers roped in the daddies to do a little dance for them.
It was suppose to be a secret. But Xavier "I cannot keep any secrets" Lee let the cat of of the bag and told Lilian almost everything. All this while I pretended I did not know what Xavier was talking about.
We were all given the link to the dance and the music we will be doing. The daddies then tried to practice in secret. I did it when Lilian was asleep. Think the auntie across my unit enjoyed the free show. Then 1/2 hour before the cocktail, daddies stream into the school to do some last minute practice. It was pretty funny when we had to practice in the dark so the mummies would not know the surprise.
Xavier's class then perform Skidamarink and Inside My Heart.
The teachers also prepared activities for the children to do with their mummies, like a instant photo booth and cupcake decoration.
Wishing all mummies Happy Mother's Day.

Mother's Day Performance 2013 @MBLM - Learning Vision @ Raffles Place
Following their wonderful Christmas Caroling in December, Marina Bay Link Mall (MBLM) has invited the school to perform on two days during lunch time in celebration of Mother's Day.
The first performance on 7th May was a dance to the extended, remix version of the song Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music. The children gets into position.
And here we go.
Very fun dance. I have seen Xavier practice his dance at home but to see so many children doing it together is so wonderful. Photo time after the performance.
For next performance on 9th May, the children sang and dance three songs. I was late and didn't take much photos. There is one of the few photos with Xavier getting into position.
The first song is a Chinese song.
The next song is a Malay song. I split into two videos as I change my shooting position half way through.
And the final song is an English song followed by the dance to the song Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music.
After that, the children presents their little "Happy Mother's Day" sign to their mummies.
Xavier said he had fun during both performances.

Lucas Promotion to Toddler Class
Today is a big day for Lucas as he is promoted from infant care to toddler class.
The school had been transiting him for the past two weeks, bringing him to his new class to mingle with his future teachers and classmates during the afternoon snack and to take part in some of the class activities.
We are more relax this time, tasking Xavier to play his big brother role and help Lucas ease into his new environment.
Both boys were all cheerful in that morning. Guess Lucas is still unsure what's gonna happen later.
Xavier is happy to show his little brother where to wash his hands in the morning. Then the little boy realise today is different, very different. Turned on his "koala bear" mode and glued himself to Lilian.
Then the time comes for us to leave for work. The teacher has to "peel" crying Lucas off Lilian. Welcome to the Toddler class Lucas.
Well at least the consolation is he didn't cry for long after we left and blend in with his class well. He does try to run off to see his brother in the other class but that should ease after he gets use to the new surrounding.

Christmas Caroling 2012 - Learning Vision @ Raffles Place
Learning Vision @ Raffles Place did a short Christmas Carol at Marina Bay Link Mall and I think the children did great.
I think they had fun. Although it was their fourth stop and some children were getting restless (Xavier included), I think they did well. And I just love their expression at the discovery of microphones.
It all started 2 weeks ago when Xavier's teacher told me that they intend to bring the children around the offices of various parents to do Christmas Carols. She asked if my company would welcome such an initiative.
As it would not be possible for my company given the nature of the job, I thought the next best alternative was the building lobby where we have big decorated Christmas trees on both towers. After checking with the building manager, he replied that the use of the building lobby would be for tenant events only. He did however help asked Marina Bay Link Mall if they would be able to host the short event and the mall welcomed the school. And so, this became what would be Learning Vision @ Raffles Place first public event.
I was on leave that day and went to the performance area slightly early. Already, there were a number of parents waiting eagerly for the children's performance. So how did it go?

UNICEF Global Handwashing Dance
Whenever Xavier comes back with a new dance and song, we are always curious what he is trying to sing or dance. I think after the Mum's Kitchen food poisoning incident, the school has introduced additional hygiene steps like re-enforcing washing of hands before going to the playground in the morning.
They even had a handwashing campaign and the kids are very familiar with the following dance. We may find the video silly and comical but I guess sometimes you have to be like a child to talk to a child. Enjoy.

Uniform
How time flies. Xavier will be starting his playgroup/toddler program on Monday.
His teachers in his infant program says he enjoyed his times in the toddler program when they brought him up during lunchtime to play with the older boys in the last two weeks. It was part of the transition program Learning Vision (LV) have for kids who is graduating from the infant to the playgroup program. I think he just find the food at the playgroup more interesting and that he gets to eat more. Ha.
Below are some pictures of him "modelling" his new uniform for the playgroup. Ah yes, the start of wearing uniform to school.
